    2003 Spring Equinox

Sunday, March 9, 2008, 07:17 AM [Book Of Shadows]

The girls and I decided to honour the Spring Equinox today and the Faery Realm. We collected daisies and made daisy chains for our hair, and after the girls put on their daisy chains they took the left over stems and daisies out to the garden and buried them, and thanked the faeries and the Goddess for change and for the wonder of using their magick.

It was gorgeous. Afterward we were sitting down talking about beliefs and Bek said it was ok for everyone to believe in what they like, I agreed and Nat said she already knew what she believed in, quite proud with herself she says " I believe in mum"

The absolute pride that brought me is amazing. To think, in her beautiful innocence this gorgeous child just believes in me!!

I feel so blessed and honoured those little eyes look at me and see all they believe in, trust and look to for guidance.

I am so truly blessed to be able to reach out and touch a soul like that. That is true magick.

    Honouring your Kitchen Goddess

Sunday, March 9, 2008, 06:16 AM [Book Of Shadows]

    Honouring Your Kitchen Goddess

Set up an altar in her honour. This should include a picture, statue, or other symbolic representation of your chosen goddess, as well as objects that are sacred to her.

Light a candle in her honour while cleaning and say, "[kitchen goddess], cleanse and bless this sacred space." Light a candle for her while preparing meals and say, "I cook with [kitchen goddess]'s fire."

Put out a small bowl or plate for offerings to her. Offerings might be bits and pieces from whatever you're cooking (a bit of pasta, carrot peels, pumpkin seeds, a small bit of bread) which you can add to your compost pile or bury in your yard. You can offer her seeds or nuts, scattering them outside at the end of the day for the wildlife to enjoy. Or you can give her libations of water, tea, or broth, which can also be poured out onto the earth later on. This helps connect us to the cycle of life, death and rebirth, and it's nice to return something to the earth which provided our food.

Compose a simple prayer or invocation to say each time you enter the kitchen and greet her. This can be memorized or printed out and framed on the wall.

    Earth Mother
    Thank you for providing

    I am a Witch - Sandi Thomas

Sunday, March 9, 2008, 06:11 AM [Book Of Shadows]

I Am A Witch. by Sandi Thomas

When I stand up for myself and my beliefs, they call me a "Witch".
When I stand up for those I love, they call me a Witch.
When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts, or do things my own way, they call me a Witch.

Being a witch entails raising my children to be strong people

Who have a solid sense of personal and social responsibility

Who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in
Who love and respect themselves for the beautiful beings they are.

Being a witch means that I am free to be the wonderful creature I am,
With all my own intricacies, contradictions, quirks and beauty.
Being a witch means I won't compromise what's in my heart.
It means I live my life MY way. It means I won't allow anyone to step on me.

When I refuse to tolerate injustice and speak up against it, I am defined as a witch.
The same thing happens when I take time for myself instead of being everyone else's maid or when I act a little selfish.

I am proud to be a witch! It means I have the courage and strength to allow myself to be who I truly am and won't become anyone else's idea of what they think I "should" be.

I am outspoken, opinionated and determined.
By Goddess, I want what I want and there is nothing wrong with that!

So, try to stomp on me, try to douse my inner flame, try to squash every ounce of beauty I hold within me. You won't succeed.

And if that makes me a witch, so be it. I embrace the title and am proud to bear it.

    Kitchen Cleansing

Sunday, March 9, 2008, 05:54 AM [Book Of Shadows]

    General Kitchen Cleansing

In a pot preblessed, place 3 cups of water as well as one clove of garlic, 1 TBS chives, 1 TBS black pepper.

Bring this mixture to a rolling boil and say:

    "Boil and bless
    Boil and cleanse
    Cleanse this room
    Of past events.
    Leave it empty
    To be fill with
    Love and harmony!
    So Mote it be!"

Turn the heat off and see the steam cleanse the energy of the room. Now reserve the tincture made from the boiling. Whenever the kitchen seems to be feeling a bit negative, sprinkle a bit in each corner of the room. Repeat every full or new moon.
